'Sunset above the clouds' by @olegp (Germany)
Location: Hafelekar, Austria
I witnessed such a unique lighting mood in this great mountainous landscape. I was so fascinated by this unique, natural show that I really wanted to share my experience with other people.

'Monument - West Mitten' by @_kennyc_ (UK)
Location: Monument Valley, USA
Monument Valley had been on my bucket list ever since I can remember, so much so that I’d planned this stint of the road trip entirely around it. It lived up to my expectations in every way - driving through it really did feel like you were in a Western, or that you were on Mars… Basically like nothing you’ve experienced before! This photo was taken literally seconds upon arrival. I had driven about 4 and a half hours from my previous stop (Bryce Canyon) and had been watching the sunlight gradually fade as I got closer to the reservation. I was only planning on staying here for two nights, so the thought of losing one of those sunsets wasn’t appealing. Luckily, I managed to make the most of the time I did have once I paid my entrance fee and pulled up at the visitors centre. I rushed out of the car with my camera and found one of the remaining spots that wasn’t occupied by the large crowd that had gathered to watch the sunset. Usually I’m one for not taking the same picture as everyone else, but I had so little time to play with that wasn’t an option. Sometimes I’ll go way out of my way to get a unique perspective on something, but there’s a reason certain spots are so popular - because they tend to give you the best view of something. In this instance, that seemed to be the case. The last thing I have to say on this photo is that I’ve never seen rocks change colour in such a way, it was truly beautiful. What makes golden hour so special to me is the constantly changing colours it produces, whether it's the sun itself, the colours in the sky, or the colours of your surroundings. The colours in this photo are a perfect example of this, and I love the harsh line of shadow at the bottom of the mitten the represents the last rays of sunlight.
'The soul of Kyoto' by @patriciasoon (Malaysia)
Location: Kyoto, Japan
'Golden Hair' by @arminabdehou (Austria)
Location: Berzan, Irak
The free spirit and the innocence, which the horse radiates together with the beautiful nature of the Barzan area of the Iraqi Kurdistan in dawn, are all representing a golden moment that captures the spirit of the nation and their homeland waiting for their golden hour of liberation. This horse is the direct descendant of the horse which belonged to General Mustafa Barzani, the legendary leader of the Kurdish liberation movements in the 1960s and 1970s.
'Untitled' by @georock888 (Indonesia)
Location: Tangerang, Indonesia
'Red cabin' by @øystein (Norway)
Location: Eastern Norway
It was a wonderful sunset in late March. I found this little ice cave that only made room for my camera, it was technically difficult to focus and made the experience quite stressful!
'Khmer Children in Vietnam' by @nguyenvuphuoc (Vietnam)
Location: Phan Rang, Vietnam
I spotted these Cham ethnic minority children playing through the sand dunes during the traditional holidays. They are performing the lion dance, which is the traditional dance for the New Year celebrations in Vietnam.
'Sunset in the countryside' by @anhtrungqng (Vietnam)
Location: Quang Ngai, Vietnam
'Sunrise at -5°F' by @jamiemalcolmbrown (USA)
Location: Hatfield, MA, USA
I took this minutes after the sun rose. Prime golden hour time! The Connecticut river and Holyoke Range display the beauty of nature. The temperature was -5 degrees fahrenheit and the river had fog due to the cold. I wanted to convey the beauty of the local area despite (and due to) the cold weather. I had to keep the drone battery in my jacket so it was warm enough to use!
'The Golden Falls' by @donaldhyip (Australia)
Location: Seljalandsfoss waterfall , Iceland
This shot was taken just as the sun was about to dip below the horizon, at nearly midnight! I visited in summer, during the 'midnight sun', where the sun barely sets and comes back up at midnight. I wanted to capture the beautiful golden light these long sunsets created, and used an ND filter to smooth the falls. Direct golden hour light illuminates the waterfall, creating this stunning effect!
'Summer at St Paul's' by @theliamman (UK)
Location: St Paul's Cathedral, London
Sunsets in cities are special, it marks the change between the daytime 9-5 routine to the vibrant nightlife. This image captures both the setting sun as well as city lights for a wonderful blend of excitement. I shot this image on a friend's SD card. After completing the long walk up to the top of the cathedral, I realised that I had left all my SD cards at home! Luckily I was with a friend who lent me their spare: a good reminder to make friends and shoot with others!
'Tinka' by @tinozavrus (Russia)
Location: Voronezh, Russia
During this shoot we were accompanied by a cute stray dog, which we fed and petted along the way! When I shot this photo of my beautiful little girl, I wanted to convey the atmosphere of a languid golden evening.
'Golden hour shining upon the Sagrada Família Cathedral in Barcelona' by @henrydo (USA)
Location: Sagrada Familia, Barcelona, Spain
This was shot at golden hour (around 5pm) which is perfect for the #GoldenHour2020 competition! It took me almost 3 days & a lot of patience to get a good light in this shot, waiting for the right weather condition.
'Return home' by @phamchiconghp (Vietnam)
Location: Mu Cang Chai, Vietnam
A man returns home late afternoon, after having finished his work. The waves of terrace rice look like sea waves leading him back home.
'The Only Way We Know How' by @eighthman (Ghana)
Location: Accra, Ghana
To be human is to be free, it's to do what makes you happy, it's to be who you are in a world that's constantly trying to make you something else. But it's hard to be human in this system and so we choose to be angels, the more they try to pull us down the more we rise, because up is where we belong, because that's the only way we know how to rise. I had to direct and give a countdown so they both flip at the same time. When you turn the photograph upside down, they look like they're sitting in the air.
'Sunrise game' by @javito80 (Spain)
Location: L’estel ferit, Barcelona, Spain
'Untitled' by @rozelkazi (Bangladesh)
Location: Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh
Through this photo,I have tried to highlight the lost heritage of Bangladesh, exposing the runners of the past which main task was to deliver letters.
'Walking into the Sunset' by @benskaar (USA)
Location: Namskatet beach, USA
This beach at low tide allows people to walk out for almost 2 miles! I want to transmit an emotion of love through my image as well as the emotion of serenity. I saw a couple walking out during low tide and knew immediately I needed to line them up with the sun.
'Abandoned house' by @msubirats (Spain)
Location: Delta del Llobregat, Spain
'Solitud' by @martapapu (Spain)
Location: Estany d'Ivars, Spain
'New York Skyline' by @and1402 (Germany)
Location: New York City, USA
Here's the sunset over New York from Top of the Rock: a cosmopolitan city in the most beautiful light of the day, calm and peaceful. It was a rainy day and ended with an incredible sunset! Seize every opportunity, it can always be worth it!
'Oryx in the Dunes' by @tomdewaart (Netherlands)
Not only was this shot taken at golden hour, for me personally this is a golden moment in my photography life as it is my favourite and most unique shot. This photo was captured on a photography tour with one of my good friends. At sunset we were taking profile photos of ourselves on top of our 4vs4 from far away. As I reviewed the photo my friend took of me, I noticed a small dot, as I zoomed in I realised it was an oryx. We rushed to get closer and as I took about 3 photos the oryx walked off into the shade, but I knew I struck gold. It's amazing to see the vastness of landscapes created by mother nature, and how beautiful wildlife can be in their natural environment. I really want to see more of Africa as it is a continent not really put on the map for photography tourism. I hope to contribute it to another incredible trip to Africa and hopefully make a similar quality shot.
'Golden Farming' by @bamperspectives (UK)
Location: St Helier, Jersey, UK
The idea was to portray the early morning work of the dedicated island farmers, who work so hard to ensure the new season of Jersey Royal Potatoes are planted and harvested ready to grace everyone’s dinner plates! When this ploughing happens, seagulls are attracted to the worms that are churned up and they line up behind the tractor eating whatever gets churned up! They also don’t like drones so I had to make sure that I avoided the Interested seagulls whilst trying to line up the shots!
'Fishing in Simerenya' by @fdilekuyar (Turkey)
Location: Ankara, Turkey
I named that photo 'Fishing in Simerenya' because 'Simerenya' is the name of the paradise in Peyami Safa's novel 'Yalnızız'. When the flock of birds passed above me while I was taking this photo, I realised that my ideal world, my Simerenya was just in front of me.
'Street World' by @muhammadbaloch (Pakistan)

'Chapman's Pool' by @carl_brightman (UK)

'The perfect light at the perfect place' by @dvnjo (Belgium)
Location: Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, Iceland
Like you can see in the picture we were losing light fast, on our way back to the car I saw this BIG jeep heading our way fast. The light was perfect, background was perfect and the location. I waited for the perfect moment to push the click button. The road is there, it will always be. And it is our decision when to take it. Travel more and enjoy life!
'In the Woods' by @pixsas (Germany)
Location: Mastershausen, Germany
A magical moment in the morning: the sun rises, the fog settles in the forest and then the deer comes out... I wanted to photograph the mysterious mood in the forest when the deer came out and looked at me.
'Dance dance dance' by @ ksenia_zaiets (Portugal)
Location: Comporta, Portugal
It was an absolutely empty beach - no one around. Only huge waves, screams of seagulls and this unforgettable golden light. This photo is about the freedom to be yourself. About the opportunity to see the beauty around, admire this beauty and give in to the impulse and suddenly start dancing from the emotions, overwhelming inside!
by @ ksenia_zaiets (Portugal)
'Love On the Branch' by @light_rays (India)
Location: K Gudi Wilderness Camp, India
It was around 4.30 pm in the evening during our guided safari when we noticed this beautiful bird sitting on the branch. I thought rather than getting closer, let's shoot this subject in its natural habitat because the light was so smooth! I was lucky to get this shot.
'What you seek seeks you too' by @thedallasexperience (Ghana)
Location: Cape Coast, Ghana
I had to spend a whole day on that faithful Saturday just to see the sunrise and sunset, and it was worth the wait! I wanted to tell a story about how waiting and being patient is an essential part of life and the sole fact that whatever you seek, seeks you too. It's a matter of waiting for it.
'Walking on stilts' by @ptkhanhhvnh (Vietnam)

It was a wonderful moment with the music, light and joy of the kids from Gia Rai ethnic group. Without the power of the sun and light it would be difficult to create such a photo. The light of the sun is the soul of this photo.
